DISTRICT MUSIC FESTIVAL
MARCH 12, 2010
On Friday, March 12, 2010 the Valley Stream CHSD Music Department will present its 53rd Annual District Music Festival for Scholarships. The concert will begin at 8 p.m. in the Keller Auditorium of Central High School. This year's festival includes over 325 of our best music students in grades 9-12 from Central HS, Memorial JHS, North HS and South HS.
The conductors for this year’s concert are District Festival Orchestra: Mr. Mark Wurtzel from Memorial JHS, District Festival Chorus: Mrs. Amy Neuner from Central HS, and District Festival Band: Mr. Douglas Coleman from Central HS. Selections from the concert will include “Russian Sailors’ Dance,” “The Beatles,” Mendelssohn’s “How Lovely Are the Messengers,” “Somewhere” from West Side Story, “Irish Tune from County Derry,” and music from “Les Miserables.”
Tickets are still available from each school’s music office. The tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Last year’s concert was a sell out – buy your tickets early. |

IMPORTANT MEETINGS
SATURDAY, MARCH 13, 2010
9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Legislative Breakfast hosted by the Valley Stream Council of PTAs - Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions and express concerns to legislators present.
11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Special Meeting Regarding Shared Services - School Administrators from the four Valley Stream school districts will describe the vast variety of shared services utilized by the school districts. Community members will be invited to offer suggestions regarding other areas of potential shared services.
1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Budget Review Session - On the agenda will be a discussion of the impact the New York State budget cuts will have on the Valley Stream high schools. |
